TITAN DESERT, THE MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE
THROUGH AFRICA
In 2006, the
Spanish company R.P.M. and SoloBici magazine imagined and developed a unique
race of MTB. All the parameters related to a test that been had imagined during
long time were defined on a very concrete way, where occurred a combination of
competition, great landscapes, individual and team effort, coexistence. A test
of effort, resistance and spirit of overcoming, within the frame of a culture
based of healthy feeding, including high amounts of adventure. A unique and
unforgettable experience.
After the
achieved success, the second edition of TITAN DESERT
will take place this year. An edition full with new features, with more stages
and in which navigation will have more importance. It will be a competition in
which the maximum rival it’s…you, and your capacity to surpass yourself. Pure
desert, maratonianas stages without attendance, nights in the camp with your
friends, the sand and the stars. And behind, an expert organization in
adventures across Africa, as well as tests of
MTB: R.P.M.
TITAN DESERT is a competition-adventure thought
for everyone: professionals, amateurs of elite and also for real amateurs that
want to put themselves to the test for the first time. For those who are not so
well prepared, the ones that do not manage to finish a stage, the organization
will have everything ready to transfer them to the camp so that hey can start
again the following day. Adventure without limit, sport in its pure state and changing
landscapes...
The
Moroccan desert is waiting for you and your bicycle.

Perhaps you
think that you will not be able and you fear to get into something that might
exceed your physical and psychological aptitudes.
It is
possible that you pay too much attention to those who assure that you will never
manage to conquer an objective of this dimension and that you shouldn’t even
try.
If that’s
the case, don’t even doubt it; enrol. Because you will live through the most important
experience of your life. You will realize that you are able of much more than
you imagine and we will be with you so that that dream can be made true.
The project
of TITAN DESERT 2007 already started up. It will take place in the Moroccan
desert that is neighbouring the Algerian border. The verifications, the route,
the mileage, the different types of lodgings in camps and hotels, aerial and
terrestrial transport, the hardness of the stages, organizational structure,
communications, number of journalists…have already been set up. A scenario
ready for the main actors, in order to make them live through a unique and
unforgettable experience.
The second
edition will be more authentic, more African.
After
observing the ability of those who participated in the first edition on 2006,
we have decided to evolve the edition 2007, adding a day more of competition (5
days), a nocturnal stage, right in the heart of the desert, very close to the
forgotten village of Ramlia and there, far away from everything, live the
experience on the authentic marathon stages (2 days and one night), with almost
no logistical support, just a sleeping bag to protect ourselves and the stars above
us as the one and only ceiling.
Like in the
preceding edition, this will be an opened test to companions and mechanics, who
will make the trip by parallel routes and that, with the exception of the marathon
stage, will meet the participants in the camps.
All in all, there will be 450 kms. With no assistance. A marathon that will put on the test the capacity for
individual sacrifice of each participant, with the only aids of road book,
compass and in best cases, the GPS.
We have all
the ingredients to offer you a great adventure, do not doubt it: you are able
too.
